Compliance & Market Access ConsultantLee began his career in electrical engineering with KBR (formerly MW Kellogg), working on large energy and infrastructure projects across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. During this period, he was closely involved in lighting design at the early stage of LED adoption, contributing to specification, performance assessment and integration as the technology became commercially viable. This experience shaped a practical, engineering-led approach to safety, standards and product risk.
He later moved into retail as Lighting, Electricals and Homeware Technologist at Debenhams Head Office. The role supported own-brand product development, supplier engagement and pre-market compliance across multiple consumer categories. Working across sourcing, quality and commercial teams, he helped ensure products were compliant, commercially viable and properly documented before launch.
Lee then focused fully on product compliance within the lighting sector. At Tom Dixon, he supported and strengthened the company’s global certification activities, helping formalise internal processes and expand international market access. This included established CE certification for Europe, transition planning to the new UKCA regime, and additional approvals such as cULus for North America, CCC for China, PSE for Japan, and Australia and New Zealand certifications.
Most recently, as Technical and Compliance Manager at ML Accessories, he led compliance oversight across the full product portfolio. His work centred on supporting governance structures, improving supplier accountability and putting practical compliance controls in place that supported business growth while managing regulatory risk.
His experience covers CE, UKCA, cULus, CCC, PSE, G-Mark and ANZ regulatory frameworks, factory audits in China and the coordination of international testing programmes. He has developed and scaled compliance capability within growing product businesses, aligning regulatory assurance with commercial priorities.
